Grønbech Expands Market Position with New Acquisition
The engineering and technology company Grønbech has acquired Lesanco ApS and their sister company Dan Smedien A/S.
Grønbech supplies steel and foundations for port and residential construction, as well as stainless steel and zinc for the industry.
Lesanco ApS specializes in the sale and rental of foundation machines for large construction projects, as well as cable ducts and level crossings for railways. Their product range includes hydraulic sheet pile vibrators, hydraulic hammers, and drilling rigs for various applications. Dan Smedien A/S specializes in the service and repair of construction machinery, particularly in the foundation sector.
This acquisition will significantly strengthen Grønbech's market position. John Mathiesen, CEO of Grønbech, states: "We have been in the search to strengthen and expand our Steel & Metal division. With the acquisition of Lesanco and Dan Smedien, we become part of a larger Scandinavian network and can exploit a number of synergies between the three companies."
Furthermore, Simon Chris Christensen, division manager for Steel & Metal, elaborates: "We are incredibly pleased to have Lesanco and Dan Smedien on board. Their service workshop,, specialized knowledge, and strong relationships in the industry, combined with our capacity and experience, open up exciting new business opportunities. With nearly 200 years of experience in the sale of steel and metals, as well as our development in sheet piling and anchoring, we see many exciting opportunities in the upcoming collaboration. The acquisition also opens up the Nordic market.”
Lesanco ApS was founded in 1977 by Flemming Hey and is now led by Torben Hammer, who acquired the company in 2006. He acquired Dan Smedien A/S in 2018, and both companies will remain independent under Torben Hammer's leadership.
Torben Hammer, CEO of Lesanco and Dan Smedien, states: "With Grønbech's acquisition of Lesanco and Dan Smedien, the generational change is in place, and the future is secured. It is the right next step for both Lesanco and Dan Smedien to become part of a larger company, and I am proud and confident that it is Grønbech. It is a family-owned company that shares the same values as Lesanco and Dan Smedien. Founded in 1828, Grønbech is built on specialized technical knowledge and expertise, and they care for customers, suppliers, and employees in the same way we do. I look forward to the collaboration and the joint journey that Grønbech and we will undertake. I am sure that Grønbech can positively contribute to the continued development of our business and vice versa."
